Album Preview: Black Milk "Album Of The Year"

For the last 12 months, it's been a roller-coaster ride for Detroit native Black Milk. There have been ups (getting love for his critically-acclaimed album, Tronic), and plenty of downs (Baatin and his aunt passing away, his manager Hex having a stroke, and his label, Fat Beats, recently announcing it will close its last two retail locations, although they'll still maintain an online and label presence). For anyone worried about Black's mindstate, though, naming his latest opus Album Of The Year should be ample reassurance that the rapper/producer is channeling his emotions into making good music. His self-produced fourth album drops on September 14th, but during a listening session in NYC, he gave us an early glimpse of what's to come.

jay elec will never be on Ls level. definitely never on royces level. maybe get to black on a bad day. which is probly why he got cut. this is a detroit song. even IF elec went crazy he STILL shouldnt be on this record. you just lost all your credibility as a blogger saying that elec wouldve made this one "greater." who the fuck invited you to the listening anyways? fuck that guy too.

For the record, Black was very disappointed he didn't get a chance to work with Jay Electronica and he said he would definitely try and do so in the future. We take it, he's a fan.

complex was never known to be big on hiphop - and they further more prove it by saying a little known Danny Brown does a competent job. Embrace raw emotion you herbs, and understand that the widely known, by true hiphop heads, Danny Brown goes the fuck off every verse. He writin 16s like internet child predators....

"which means we can't help but wonder how much greater it actually could've been" uum good god are guys outta touch with what hip hop fans want or what? lmao!! U guys and Black might be the only ppl, who will be wondering that crap! It would NOT have been "greater"! quite the opposite, In fact I would've skip over the track if he were on it! We can't choose who he likes, and wants to work with, but we are VERY VERY happy with the results on this one!! Black, Royce & Elzhi = BEAST MODE. Especially that Royce verse Woooo! Nasty!

Why is there even a debate between J. Electronica and Black Milk? Both are Top 5 in the game without question. Leave it at that.
