ARTIST: La Roux (with Diplo and Switch)

WHY IT'S WORTH THE DL: After blazing the U.K. charts with their 2009 singles "Bulletproof" and "In For The Kill," electro-pop tag-team La Roux have joined forces with DJs Diplo and Switch (otherwise know as Major Lazer) to create a mixtape entitled Lazerproof. The record presents a mash-up of songs from La Roux's self-titled debut album with the sounds of dancehall, giving listeners a taste of Jamaica and '80s-style synth-pop all at the same time. Although verses from Gucci Mane and Drake are recycled from previous songs, the project still brings more than enough originality to hold the attention of both La Roux fans and folks who are looking for an introduction.

Both of these artists are in a class of their own but I never could sit through their songs due to how over played their are. This collaboration is kind of like the only way I'd probably listen to their music in it's entirety.
