22-year-old Oklahoma teacher Hunter Day has been accused and arrested for having sex with one of her students. Day allegedly had a relationship with a boy at Yukon High School, and she now faces a string of charges, including second-degree rape, facilitating sexual contact with a minor and possession of child pornography.

As News9reports, police officers were alerted about the relationship by the unnamed boy’s parents. The evidence they gathered included explicit text messages and nudes found on his phone. The day that investigators had chosen to arrest Day, the two had already arranged a meeting at her home and the officers found her as she was waiting for him to arrive. They sent Day a message from his phone, so she kept her door unlocked. Police found Day sitting on the floor of her living room, with the lights turned off and candles lit, wearing a Christmas cat T-shirt and workout shorts.

At this point, after being interrogated by police, she admitted to sending “bra and panty” pictures to the boy in question. She also confessed to having received photos of the boy’s penis.

Day, who was married, taught science at the high school. Her husband is a football coach at the same school.

The Yukon Schools superintendent declined to comment on the case as it is part of an investigation. But Yukon Public Schools released a statement via Twitter that ensured “the safety and well-being of our students is our number one priority.”

“This is a classic case of a serious breach of public trust. School teachers are entrusted to protect and educate our children, not to engage in an unlawful sexual relationship with them,” said Chris West, Canadian County Sheriff.

“I’m no longer surprised by the people who commit these crimes, because predators come from all walks of life,” West said.
