High design Holiday ornaments come in many incarnations. Few are as intriguing, however, as Mooz's "Taste Tree" in Hasselt, Belgium. Designed by the agency's own Inge Vanluyd and Stefan Vanbergen, the "tree" is built completely of porcelain plates and cups. Known as the capital of taste, Hasselt traditionally mounts a tree in its central square each year. This December, the Vanluyd and Vanberen decided to celebrate the invisible—the odd cups and plates that filled local homes. Rather than let these lay dormant in the cupboard, local residents donated their extras to the project. Karolien Mondelaers, Hasselt's Alderman for Culture, hopes that the tree will encourage folks to share a friendly drink during the season.
