6ix9ine is once again behind bars.

The controversial rapper was arrested at JFK Airport on Wednesday over an outstanding warrant issued in Texas. 6ix9ine—legal name Daniel Hernandez—was wanted in Houston for allegedly choking a 16-year-old boy at a mall back earlier this year. According to The Blast, NYC authorities say 6ix9ine will not be extradited to the Lone Star state, but will remain in custody until Texas officials retrieve him. TMZ reports the “Gummo” artist could remain in custody until a tentative date of July 20, when Houston authorities are expected to pick him up.

On Thursday, he was denied bail by a New York judge who considered the rapper a flight risk, TMZ reports. The rapper allegedly told the judge he'd "learned his lesson" after being locked up for a day, and argued he needs to be released to support his family. The judge, however, thought he wasn't taking the case seriously, and added that the plea the rapper accepted in a previous child sex case required him to stay away from getting arrested again. As a result, the rapper will remain in jail until his hearing on July 20.

As previously reported, the 22-year-old artist was accused of assaulting a teenage fan on Jan. 6 at Houston’s Galleria Mall. The alleged victim, Santiago Albarran, claims he saw the rapper inside the complex and began filming him with his phone. 6ix9ine allegedly started yelling at the teenager, demanding him to delete the video before he grabbed Albarran’s neck.

Though the teen said he deleted the footage out of fear, another patron captured the incident on camera and posted it to social media. Albarran eventually reported the alleged attack to Houston law enforcement, who documented the scratch marks on the teenager’s neck.

6ix9ine’s camp told TMZ they intend to handle the warrant and arrest “soon.” They also claim the NYC officials have “no business arresting him” for a misdemeanor warrant issued across the country.

Stay tuned as more information about the case rolls through.

This, of course, isn't the first legal issue 6ix9ine has had to face. The rapper previously pleaded guilty in a child sex case that stemmed from a 2015 incident. He was also arrested back in May for driving without a license, and was recently investigated for a shooting that targeted Chief Keef.
