Last season of Empire ended with a very big bang, and as season four kicks off, the show isn’t slowing down one bit when it comes to its dramatic twists and turns.

While it should be a time of celebration for the Lyon family, since Empire Entertainment is celebrating its 20th anniversary of being in business, things are anything but happy right now. After miraculously surviving a car bomb attack—only to awake from a coma with apparently no memory of his family—patriarch Lucious (Terrence Howard) is embarking on a long road to recovery. The entire family is invested in him regaining his physical and mental capabilities—but for their own personal interests. Now the must also contend with Claudia (Demi Moore), the nurse who is assisting Lucious in his recovery, and whose motives definitely cannot be trusted. Meanwhile Cookie (Golden Globe Award winner Taraji P. Henson) starts revisiting the deeply challenging 17 years she spent in prison in a series of intense flashbacks. When it all comes down to it, the Lyon family will have to band together and take a long hard look at the choices they have made if they have any shot of securing their legacy—and saving their Empire.

As always, Season Four of Empire will be filled with some incredible and exciting new music, as well as appearances from special guest stars including Phylicia Rashad, Taye Diggs, and Forest Whitaker. You can get a peek at all the excitement that awaits in Empire’s upcoming season in the video above. And be sure to tune in Wednesday, September 27th at 8/7c when Empire Season Four premieres at its new time, only on FOX.
