MTV Movie Awards give zero fucks about the rules, much like everyone's favorite anti-superhero, Deadpool. Even though the action flick came out this year, it competed against a bunch of 2015 films at the 25th anniversary ceremony, including a nom for Best Movie. Even though it lost to Star Wars: The Force Awakens in that category, Deadpool did not walk away empty-handed.
Beating out Leo vs. the bear, Deadpool's hunky Ryan Reynolds and even hunkier Ed Skrein (who plays villain Ajax) took the award. The two thanked their stunt coordinators and doubles, but the most memorable part about that fight was arguably Reynold's nudity, and a blink-and-you'll-miss full-frontal. Reynolds had previously said it was "basically a lot of me" and failed to give himself enough credit, comparing his penis to "a small haiku written in braille." We have a feeling that "small haiku" had a lot to do with his win. Accepting the award, Reynolds said, the fight was "ripped right out of the pages of my childhood."
Reynolds also took home a Golden Popcorn for Best Comedic Performance in a category that included a bunch of comedians: Amy Schumer (Trainwreck), Kevin Hart (Ride Along 2), Melissa McCarthy (Spy), Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect 2), and Will Ferrell (Get Hard). As they called his name, he was ambushed by a squad of dancing Deadpools getting nasty to Salt-N-Pepa's "Shoop" (joined by presenters Zac Efron and Seth Rogen).
Reynolds jokingly lamented Schumer's loss—because imagine her accepting with all those Deadpools—but eventually thanked the fans for making a 10-year dream in the making come true. A good night of celebration for Ryan Reynolds. And every man who put on a Deadpool suit tonight.
