Two students have been expelled from the University of Oklahoma for their roles in a racist video featuring members of the school's Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter.
According to USA Today, University President David Boren, who condemned the egregious display of "threatening racist behavior," made the announcement in a statement:
I have acted today to expel two students who were leaders in the singing of a racist chant. See press release - DBo pic.twitter.com/VypOiVqXi7

SAE National President Brad Cohen, who revealed that the university's chapter had been closed and the members involved would be removed, had expressed hope that the school take similar action. Boren apparently agreed, expelling the two members who took "leadership" roles in the video from the university.
Hundreds of students gathered on the University of Oklahoma's campus yesterday to protest the video. USA Today adds that Boren joined them:
A rally against the video drew hundreds of students Monday, including Boren. He accused the fraternity members of misusing their right to free speech in a reprehensible way and promised that the school will become an example to the entire country of how to deal with this issue.
Boren was clearly dead serious about the school's "zero tolerance" policy for this type of abhorrent behavior.
