Saturday Night Live finally returned from its holiday vacation as Kevin Hart hosted the first episode of 2015 with musical guest Sia. Hart rapped, he sang, he locked people in a dungeon, he even got out Kevin Harted by Jay Pharoah, but where he really shined (as most great stand-ups do) was in his opening monologue.
RACCOON MONOLOGUE
1.
Hart frantically packed about four episodes worth of monologue into a single monologue.
CORNER BOYS (BUSHWICK 2015)
2.
As more of Brooklyn is swallowed up by artisanal mayonnaise shops and people walking their labradoodles, Bushwick's native residents are adapting to gentrification in their own special way.
GET ON UP
3.
The Godfather of Soul was known for running a tight ship, but what if James Brown ran his band and his entourage as a true democracy, with everyone getting a vote (about whether or not it was time to get funky). This one just gets weirder and weirder in a good way.
KEVIN'S ILLEGITIMATE SON
4.
Master impressionist Jay Pharoah snaps and claps his way to becoming a better Kevin Hart than Kevin Hart himself. This sketch is really just an excuse to let Pharoah show off, and we're fine with that.
