Humor has been consistent throughout the decades of James Bond films, but Daniel Craig's first two outings as 007 were the most serious in the history of the series. According to Craig himself it's all Austin Powers' fault.

"We had to destroy the myth because Mike Myers fucked us," the actor said in a recently unearthed interview from 2012. "I am a huge Mike Myers fan, so don’t get me wrong, but he kind of fucked us, made it impossible to do the gags."

If anything Powers should force the Bond filmmakers to come up with new gags. Myers' time as a spy made fun of Bond villains including Blofeld and Dr. No, as well as other key characters. There should be plenty of room to create more material, especially since Skyfall eased up a bit and was more fantastical than Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace. Craig is hopeful that he'll be able to have even more fun the next time around.

"I don’t want to go ludicrous and we’ve got to keep them in reality, but Christ almighty, the world’s fucking weird and there’s plenty we can start mining and taking out."
