Yesterday, competitive eater Joey Chestnut won his eighth hot dog eating competition by downing 61 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Perhaps he was motivated by the fact that he got engaged to his girlfriend before the victory.
According to USA Today, Chestnut stole the show early on by proposing to longtime girlfriend, Neslie Ricasa, on stage. Roughly 90 minutes later, he was crowned the champion of Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, edging out Matt Stonie and Tim Janus.
Though he fell short of the 69 hot dogs he crushed last year, he still emerged victorious in two ways.
