In case you need more news that proves the world is an unfair and frequently awful place, here's something truly terrible from Florida.
According to the Panama City New Herald, 33-year-old Justin Ayers and his wife had just brought their three-day-old baby home from the hospital when their neighbor accidentally fired his gun through their wall and shot Ayers in the head.
When the police initially confronted 62-year-old Charles Edward Shisler, whose .9mm pistol killed Ayers, he was defensive. According to the police report, he told officers that "the damn gun doesn't usually shoot" and "you have to squeeze the hell out of the trigger to shoot it."
Perhaps the reason for Shisler's reaction can be linked to his drinking. Shisler apparently had a blood alcohol content of 0.79—just 0.1 percent lower than the legal limit for driving. Whatever the case, one man won't be able to raise his child because of another's negligence.
Forensic examiners are reportedly treating the area as a crime scene.
