A group of Texas lawmakers unconcerned about the smell the Hoy Hong Foods plant produces ar trying to lure the Sriracha maker from Irwindale, Calif.
City Council in Irwindale decided that the plant was a public nuisance, as residents of complained that the odor emanating from of it is basically like a chemical weapon from a disaster flick. This has resuled in enticing pitches from fans in high places in Texas:

Still, Huy Fong Foods founder David Tran told NPR that he doesn't plan on relocating. He reportedly holds that 655,000-square-foot space (that also cost $40 million) specifically built for Sriracha production close to his heart.
Nice try, Texas. Still, another Sriracha plant opening outside of Texas might be in the works. Stay tuned.
