Shaq Diesel is known for crackin' jokes, but one of them went too far.

In a world where memes get passed around hundreds of thousands of times per day, we sometimes forget that many of the people in those pictures are real. Shaq learned this lesson when he posted a selfie of himself mocking 23-year-old Jahmel Binion, who suffers from ectodermal dysplasia, which has affected his appearance. The disease inhibits the body from being able to form teeth, hair, or sweat.

Binion told the local news that he's been teased all of his life, but wasn't ever expecting to be made fun of by a celebrity in front of hundreds of thousands of people on Instagram.

Shaq ended up apologizing after people left comments, like this one from af3lmike:

"Made a new friend today when I called and apologized to Jahmel Binion. Great dude," Shaq said in a tweet, later adding, "Had the opportunity to talk to Jahmel Binion yesterday and apologize about the post on IG!"

"Shaq contacted me and apologized for his actions," Binion said. "He now understands that his actions were wrong and not only did they hurt me, but my entire NEED family. Hopefully he goes one step further and contributes to‪#‎hugdontjudge‬ and NFED."
