Today, a number of sweets companies ordered electronic cigarette manufacturers to stop using the names of their products.

According to the Associated Press, the brand owners have issued a series of cease-and-desist letters:

None

As the Associated Press notes, this reflects a push made by the Food and Drug Administration last month for the regulation of e-cigs, though that did not result in an outright ban of the more inviting flavors. These are prohibited from use in regular cigarettes, as they tend to be more enticing to children.

Furthermore, sweets-makers plan to pursue additional legal action to protect the integrity of their brands. "We're family oriented. A lot of kids eat our products, we have many adults also, but our big concern is we have to protect the trademark," Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. Ellen Gordon told the Associated Press.
