An Oakland man was arrested earlier this week after police found over 100 pounds of marijuana during a routine traffic stop.
According to SFGate, the California Highway Patrol stopped a minivan for tailgating on Monday. After the driver, 29-year-old Zi Ren Li, 29, exited the freeway, an officer noticed the distinct smell of marijuana. CHP Spokesman Officer Sean Wilkenfield said that a search of the vehicle produced 128 pounds of marijuana.
Li was charged with transportation of marijuana and suspicion of possession of marijuana. This marks the second time this week alone that your average traffic stop turned into a win for police.
