In honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the New York State Museum released a copy of the speech Dr. King delivered at the Park Sheraton Hotel in September 1962. The 26-minute speech was delivered in honor of Abraham Lincoln's Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, and Dr. King notes that both it and the Declaration of Independence had "fallen far short of achieving equality for all of its citizens."
Dr. King's words are set to the images of a printed copy of the speech taken from state archives. Remember Dr. King's legacy with the speech, which can now be heard for the first time in 52 years.
