The day the laughter died.

HBO’s comedy scene just got a bit more tragic after The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the network has canceled both Family Tree and Hello Ladies before either show got to a second season. Family Tree was created by Christopher Guest and starred Chris O’Dowd, Michael McKean, Fred Willard, and Ed Begley JrHello Ladies debuted just last year and was created by The Office’s Stephen Merchant, Lee Eisenberg, and Gene Stupnitsky. The show was partly based on Merchant’s own stand-up material.

Each series only survived for eight episodes, but both were met with a solid critical reception and a strong fan following. In a bit of good news, the site has also confirmed that HBO is looking to bring Getting On back for a second season, if that is any consolation. However, those plans haven't been confirmed yet. Had you been keeping up with either Family Tree or Hello Ladies? As always, vent your frustrations in the comment section below.
