A Brooklyn bar elected to bump its weekend drinking age up to 25 in order to appease neighbors complaining about obnoxious noise levels. Phil's Crummy Corner (323 Columbia St.) manager Isabel Santiago told DNAinfo that the "quality of life" of the bar's neighbors is their utmost concern, explaining that strides (like hiring a bouncer) had been made to make Phil's a "quiet family place."
DNAinfo adds that the bar is infamous for hosting raucous weekend fun that lasts until the early morning hours. The new rule is imposed around 10 p.m., but its tragic flaw is that it's predicated on the notion that only people between the ages of 21 and 25 act ridiculous at bars. Every young person isn't a potential problem.
