Officials say a 1,760-foot drug "super tunnel" extending from Tijuana to San Diego was shut down on Wednesday night. U.S. Attorney Laura Duffy says the tunnel was fitted with a ventilation system, hydraulic doors and an electronic rail system.

Over 17,000 pounds of marijuana and 325 pounds of cocaine were seized from the highly sophisticated tunnel by the DEA, and three men were arrested during a raid.

Federal agents were reportedly aware of the San Diego warehouse and had placed it under surveillance following a tip from an informant. The tunnel was shut down before any more drugs could travel through it, and authorities believe the Sinaloa cartel is behind its origin.
