“Superhot”: What If An FPS Only Moved When You Did?

"Braid" comparisons aside, this is a pretty great take on the genre.

None

We know, we know – the FPS has been done to death. But Superhot is different. Remember that scene at the end of the first Matrix, when Neo looks at the bullets flying at him from across the room they almost cease movement entirely? Superhot is a minimalist extrapolation of that.

Essentially time only moves forward (ok, it moves at an almost negligible pace) when you’re moving. Stop moving, time stops. What follows is a combination of a murder puzzle Braid, wherein you have to kill everyone trying to kill you with the added layer of everything moving in slow motion.

It sounds interesting, sure, but try playing it for yourself in-browser and you’ll find it has all the deliberate existential dread and tactical cynicism of Hotline Miami.

But don’t take our word for it – go check the brower game at the link below. You can vote for it on Steam Greenlight while you’re at it.
