Redfin, a real estate listing service, has identified San Jose, Calif. as the fastest market for housing sales. This is based in June numbers, where 52 percent of the listings are contracted in two weeks or less. The rest of the top five included San Francisco, Ventura, Calif., Denver and D.C.
Philadelphia had the slowest market, lagging behind everyone else at 9.1 percent. Across the U.S., 30.5 percent of homes went under contract in that two week period in June. That's an increase over last year's 23.2 percent and a huge jump over 2011's 14.3 percent.
