If you choose Manhattan as a marriage destination, you better enjoy every minute of it. It's going to cost you.
According to wedding-planner sites WeddingChannel.com and TheKnot.com, it cost $76,687 on average to get married in Manhattan last year. That's nearly $30,000 more than Chicago, the second most-expensive place to get married. Furthermore, that's a 16.5 percent increase over 2011; per TheKnow.com, that's the bigest year-to-year increase.
Unless your just filfthy rich, you should head over to the surrounding boroughs or south New Jersey, where weddings cost $39,602 and $35,375 respectively.
