Things are about to get a little rough for our friends over in Great Britain.
British Prime Minister David Cameron announced today he is passing reforms that will make it harder to access any adult content on the internet. How is he planning to do this? By using advanced filtration systems. The filters are set-up to block all adult content sites by default, and for those Brits who think they can get around the filters by using tablets or smartphones—the filters will be placed on them and public Wi-Fi spots, as well. "In the darkest corners of the internet, there are things going on that are a direct danger to our children, and that must be stamped out," Cameron said. "This is, quite simply, about how we protect our children and their innocence."
The program will begin at the end of the year, and the 19 million households in the UK connected to the internet will have to contact their service providers in order to have the filters turned off. Even if filters are turned off, adult content videos that feature violence will become illegal, and law enforcement will be granted more access to networks to monitor the spread of content.
