The Purge surprisingly managed to dominate the box office when it was released last weekend, so it's really no surprise that Hollywood is already putting it on the fast track to receive a sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer James Blum has already signed on to return, but there's no word yet on director James DeMonaco.

With a budget of only $3 million, The Purge was a major success for Universal: It surprised pretty much everyone when it raked in $34 million on its opening weekend, and managed to top the box office over much bigger films like The Internship and Fast & Furious 6. It starred Ethan Hawke and Cersei Lannister herself, Lena Headey, as a wealthy couple who fall victim to a home invasion on the one night in the world where all crime is legal for 12 hours. With a premise like that, a sequel will actually be extremely easy to make—just get another family, put them through another hellish ordeal. Bam. You're welcome, Universal.
