In the past few months, scientists have found they could run living cells through a 3D printer and keep them in working condition. So it was a matter of time that scientists were going to find a way to make something cool come out of it.
Princeton scientists, along with a local high school student, Ziwen Jiang, created a bionic ear that has sensors implanted throughout its tissue that improve hearing abilities—though, as of now, it can only pick up radio waves. The ear is made out of hydrogel and calf stem cells that have silver nanoparticles embedded into it, which sort of act like an antenna.
