ABC News reports that Ibragim Todashev, the man shot and killed by an FBI agent in Orlando, FL, was about to sign a confession to a 2011 triple murder in Massachusetts. Sources close to the incident say that Todashev admitting to playing a role—along with Boston Marathon bombing suspectTamerlan Tsarnaev—in the unsolved crime.

According to one FBI agent, Todashev "just went crazy," brandishing a knife while being questioned. An agent was stabbed several times, suffering non-life threatening injuries before Todashev was shot in the head. The FBI took an interest in Todashev after his name and phone number were found inside of Tsarnaev's phone after he was killed in a shootout with police last month.

Though Todashev was originally being interviewed about possible ties to the Apr. 15 bombings, it was revealed that he was connected to the murder of Brandon Mess, Eric Weissman and Raffael Teken on Sep. 11, 2011.
