Universal is moving forward with plans to create a film based on the 1970's series Kojak. According to Deadline, the studio has hired Skyfall co-writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade to pen the script for the film, and have tapped the coolest and most intimidating bald guy around, Vin Diesel, to portray the titular cop in the film. Kojak, who was portrayed by Telly Savalas in the series, was known for being a tough, cynical, Tootsie Roll Pop-loving kinda guy with maverick-tendencies who says "Who loves ya, baby?" a lot, so the role is basically perfect for Diesel.

The plans are to set the film in modern times and re-imagine the storyline for the big screen, which basically means it will be darker, and everyone will have cell phones.
