Though it was more or less expected that this would happen, it's still sad to hear: According to TVLine, the Sigourney Weaver-starring drama Political Animals has been canceled by the USA Network after just one season on the air. Though originally intended to be a "limited series event," hopes were that ratings would be high enough to merit a second season, as was the case with fellow USA shows The Starter Wife and The 4400.
The network commented on the decision in a statement, saying, "We are proud of Political Animals, our miniseries that attracted critical acclaim and impacted the cultural conversation this summer...it was a pleasure to work with Greg Berlanti and Laurence Mark and a powerful cast led by Sigourney Weaver. We look forward to collaborating again with these immensely talented creatives."
