Stephen King’s 2009 novel, Under the Dome, is being turned into a TV series over at CBS, according to Entertainment Weekly. The network has ordered 13 episodes based off of the King novel after it was originally set up at Showtime. The series will be written by Lost and Saga scribe Brian K. Vaughan, who has been tasked with reworking the novel to fit the format of a serialized TV series.

“This is a great novel coming to the television screen with outstanding auspices and in-season production values to create a summer programming event,” said Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment. “We’re excited to transport audiences Under the Dome and into the extraordinary world that Stephen King has imagined.”

Under the Dome revolves around a small town in Maine that is inexplicably cut off from the rest of the world after a giant transparent dome appears over it. With no way out, the residents must survive this mysterious epidemic and attempt to get to the bottom of the dome’s origin. The plan is for the series to begin its run this summer. We’ll have more information on Under the Dome as it becomes available.
