Last week, 19-year-old Jamie Blake told a court that he microwaved with a stray cat that he had befriended because it argued with him. Blake had been living at John Room House in Thetford which houses homeless and at-risk adults, where he met "Buddy" the cat. Blake had been keeping Buddy in his room, but things turned violent when Blake claimed the cat began talking to him, telling him that his mother's deceased ex-partner had been injecting her with heroin.
Blake has mental health issues, and says he argued with the cat before putting it in the microwave for three minutes. John Room House staff found the microwave and the cat in in the trash. His attorney, Kieran Dunphy, says he was not in his right mind at the time of the crime. Blake will be sentenced following a psychiatric evaluation.
