In a completely random attack, 55-year-old Arturo Jose Reyes threw sulfuric acid on a woman who walked into a San Diego laundromat. After the attack, Reyes sped off in his blue BMW. The woman, who suffered second-degree burns to her face, back, and arms, was able to describe his vehicle to police. Authorities found Reyes sitting in his car at a gas station, causing a disturbance.

While no motive has been determined, Reyes was charged with assault with a caustic chemical, aggravated mayhem, vandalism and being under the influence of a controlled substance. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
