Julia Louis-Dreyfus would've had a really awkward moment accepting the award for "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series" last night (Sept. 23) at the Emmys after "accidentally" reading Amy Poehler's speech—had it not been a prank organized by Poehler and herself all along.
This was Poehler's second successful attempt at pulling a fast one on the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Last year, she arranged for each nominee to rush the stage and line-up beauty-pageant-style as their names were called. Melissa McCarthy walked away with the trophy.
Poehler, who's been nominated multiple times for her work on Parks and Recreation, was the fan-favorite to win the award, but was once again overlooked by the voters. However, she still managed to steal the show and force the Academy to take a second look at her.
Louis-Dreyfus even acknowledged the snub and tacked onto her personal speech, "Isn't it a shame that Amy Poehler didn't win?"
