German thieves may have been a bit overzealous with explosives on Sunday, when their attempt to blow open an ATM lead to the complete demolition of a Sparkasse bank. Not only was the bank leveled, but the blast rendered the apartments above the bank uninhabitable.
The gross miscalculation led to debris being shot out over 300 yards, and though it is unclear exactly how much damage they caused, it is estimated that it will result in hundreds of thousands of Euros. Incredibly, no one was hurt by the blast.
According to a police spokesman, "[the thieves] simply used too much explosives." Thanks for clearing that up.
