Courtesy of Disruptor Beam and HBO, George R. R. Martin's Game of Thrones—also known as A Song of Ice and Fire—will soon be heading to Facebook gaming with a title called Game of Thrones: Ascent.

There are plenty of things in the world of Ice and Fire we can think of to ascend: the enormous, magical Wall; the political ladder to the Iron Throne; onto Ros's bed for some good old fashioned fun, Chataya's style.

Ascent will put you in the satin slippers of a noble of Westeros, where you'll swear allegiance to a great house, secure your holdings, develop your lands and reputation, send sworn swords out on quests, and make allegiances with friends, a press release sent out today reveals. It's all familiar material to fans of the series, especially of the books.

“Everyone at Disruptor Beam was a huge fan of Game of Thrones long before we began working on the game, so we recognize that other fans expect character-driven conflict and intrigue to take center stage in our new game," said Disruptor Beam CEO Jon Radoff in the press release. "Westeros is the perfect setting to deliver on our vision of weaving stories through decisions and social interactions.”

If you just can't wait for the Facebook game, you can always try out the PS3 and Xbox 360 title Game of Thrones, which we loved despite its flaws. Kind of like Tyrion!
