The latest issue of the U.S version of the Official Xbox Magazine has spawned quite an interesting rumor amongst Gears of War fans. According to the magazine, it is believed, but not confirmed, that Epic Games owned People May Fly is taking on the next chapter in the Gears of War saga. The studio, which was responsible for the controversial Bulletstorm earlier this year, is supposedly crafting a prequel trilogy for the Gears of War universe.

The new chapter will take place before the Marcus Fenix saga, which came to a close at the conclusion of Gears of War 3. This wouldn’t be the first time that People Can Fly has taken on the Gears franchise as the company handled the PC version of the original game. Although Bulletstorm wasn’t exactly a great game, it definitely had an excellent gameplay foundation and enough technical bells and whistles to prove that they could do justice to the Gears franchise in our opinion. This is definitely a rumor that we will be watching in the months to come.
