Ready for more bad NYPD press? This time around, four of New York’s finest are in the hot seat for the unspeakable act of tossing a football around with a little boy they met in a Bronx housing project. Every cop isn’t an asshole, so we commend any of them who try to show that they actually have hearts underneath their badges. That’s exactly what Officer Catherine Guzman—a 17-year veteran of the force—was attempting to do, stating that, “There’s a lot of negativity toward police….I want kids in the community to look at us in a positive way.”

The problem began when the commanding officer of the Bronx Housing Bureau noticed the cops making nice with the kid and started bitching about overtime. The officers, accused of “failing” and “neglecting to remain alert,” plan to appeal this ridiculous ordeal. After all of the recent ridiculousness, you’d think the NYPD wouldn’t want some good press for establishing solid relationships with the community. We guess not.
