Google's got a new market it would like to dominate: online restaurant guides and recommendations. The search giant announced today via it's blog that it has acquired restaurant guide Zagat to get that ball moving.

Marissa Mayer, VP of Google Local, Maps, and Location Services, said the 32-year-old guidebook company be heavily integrated into the company's existing services, and that it will be the "cornerstone" of Google's local offering.

We hope Yelp's ready for war.
