One of the original NFLers-turned-actors, Charles "Bubba" Smith left the world on Wednesday at the age of 66.

The hulking, but quiet member of the iconic Police Academy franchise was found in his Los Angeles home in the Baldwin Hills area. Before he was a part of the cult comedy classic, the towering 6'7" gentle giant spent nine seasons as a defensive end in the NFL, playing for the Baltimore Colts, Oakland Raiders, and Houston Oilers.

The Beaumont, Texas native won Super Bowl V with the Colts, but he'll forever be cherished as the lovable and loyal Moses Hightower, who appeared in six of the Police Academy movies.
