With the first season of VH1's Basketball Wives LA set to premiere on August 29th, NBA star Gilbert Arenas is seeking an injunction against the series, apparently a bit miffed that his ex-fiancé and mother of his children, Laura Govan, is a cast member this season.

The Basketball Wives series isn't terribly popular with NBA players for obvious reasons, but Arenas is taking his dislike a bit further by attempting to bar the show from using his name and airing anything involving Govan, which is basically the entire next season. Which begs the question, what exactly is he afraid of?

Worry not, though, because the show's production company, Shed Media, isn't going down without a fight. In a rebuttal to Arena's request, they have said, "Essentially, Plaintiff claims that because he is famous, his ex-girlfriend is not allowed to talk about her life. Plaintiff is wrong. Govan has a constitutional right to tell her story, even were it to result in an unauthorized biography of Plaintiff."

A motion is set for August 22, exactly a week before the next season is set to air; if Arenas succeeds, the show might actually not air. Shed Media's motion against Arenas is set for the 29th which is, of course, the actual air date of the series.

Get ready for a throwdown.
