31. Wu-Tang Samples Shaolin & Wu Tang

Song: "Da Mystery of Chessboxin'" (1993)

Once again another Wu banger contains a combination of quotes from two celebrated martial arts movies. Back is the voice of Wang Lung-Wei from Shaolin & Wu Tang (1981), who delivers the now immortal lines: "The game of chess is like a sword fight. You must think first before you move." That piece is immediately followed by words from the classic Five Deadly Venoms (1978). In this story, the Poison Clan master (Dick Wei) is slipping into the afterlife, but first he must instruct his remaining student to track down the handful of former pupils who the leader fears may be using their powers for evil. Each wayward warrior has a different steez, like student Number 5, for example: "Toad style is immensely strong and immune to nearly any weapon. When it's properly used it's almost invincible." The cool-as-hell swishing sound of swords slicing through the air are an added bonus at no extra cost.
