Just because Rescue Me is over doesn't mean Denis Leary is leaving the world of life saving first-responders behind. The comedian has been hired by USA Network to write a new half-hour comedy based on the hit British series Sirens, about a group of paramedics.
"When we read the material, we fell in love with the leads," Bill McGoldrick, USA's SVP original scripted programming, said in a statement. Sirens "revolves around a trio of paramedics who bicker, fight and shag their way through the darkly funny maelstrom of their lives." Exciting!
Unfortunately, Leary isn't writing to star; he's only set as a co-producer and scripter. Whether he finds his way onto the series in a cameo capacity remains to be seen.
