It's been a year since actor, director, painter, sculptor, and photographer Dennis Hopper died of prostate cancer. If all you know the 1960s icon for is a 2002 stint as terrorist Victor Drazen on 24 or a 2007 cameo on Entourage, you need to drop everything this instant and spend your Memorial Day Weekend honoring him by catching up on A Rebel Without A Cause (his 1955 debut, with James Dean), Easy Rider, Apocalypse Now, Blue Velvet, and Hoosiers. (If you enjoy camp horror, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is a must, too.)

But there's much more to Hopper than his filmography will ever tell you. He was one of Hollywood's most complex and troubled characters, a serious drug addict who, at times, seemed to be insane (racing around naked and masturbating on trees will do that). Thanks to the memorial site 1000memories, which posted "10 Things You Never Knew About Dennis Hopper (And Are Too Lazy To Google)," you can see what made dude so out there and unforgettable.
