As if the name Fijimacintosh isn’t evocative enough, the 16-year-old MC has brought us the video for his song “Wintertime Nights,” a splashy visual, reminiscent of the early days of the internet.

“I want to make the world colorful,” Fiji told Complex over email. “I’m on the vapor wave aesthetic; Tumblr mixed with animation. It’s like walking through a dream but the dream is an acid trip.” He cited N*E*R*D, Kid Cudi, Travis Scott, and Neil Young as his sources for inspiration.

The video is certainly colorful, as we see the Ohio native drift between the real world and a world within cyberspace. The line between the two eventually seem to blur, perhaps as a nod to his lyric, “Too much on my conscious.”

“The world is going to a dark place but I want to make things more positive and angelic, which is why I promote the numbers 777,” Fiji added. “I see those numbers all the time and they tell me that I’m on the right path. I want to tell everyone that you can do anything you want to and still be successful.”

The song is the last track on his most recent mixtape Satellite Crash, which dropped on March 20. On Wednesday, Fiji kicked off a 16-date tour with fellow teen rapper Smooky Margielaa.
