Rick Ross has reportedly struck a plea deal in his kidnapping and assault case stemming from 2015. And it seems The Bawse caught a lucky break.

According to TMZ, Ross pleaded no contest to one felony count of aggravated assault. The other felony charges in the case were dropped.

On Tuesday, the court ordered the 41-year-old rapper to pay a $10,000 fine and sentenced him to time served in jail (he’s been behind bars for a week). Not only did Ross dodge multiple felony charges, he was also sentenced as a first-time offender, meaning the conviction will be taken off his record after he pays the $10,000. Additionally, the deal does not put any travel restrictions on Ross, which is a huge benefit for his wallet.

As a part of the deal, the MMG founder also pleaded no contest to five misdemeanors, including assault, battery, and possession of less than 1 oz of marijuana. Ross received 60 months of probation for the misdemeanors.

In 2015, the rapper and his bodyguard Nadrian Lateef James were arrested for allegedly assaulting Ross’ groundskeeper Jonathan Zamudio. Ross was accused of holding Zamudio at gunpoint inside his Georgia home and pistol-whipping the man. The groundskeeper is said to have sustained neck and jaw injuries due to the attack.

Ross and James were indicted in March of 2016.

During court hearings, the MMG founder argued he attacked Zamudio in self-defense. Ross’ legal team claimed the victim was committing felonies on their client’s property, and he was within his rights to take action. Ross also filed a countersuit against Zamudio, claiming he fabricated the entire story and was conspiring with Ross’ rival 50 Cent.

On leaving the courtroom, Ross issued a short statement thanking the court, his family, and his fans.
