VERDY

VERDY is a graphic artist from Osaka, Japan, currently based in Tokyo, whose work has become synonymous with contemporary youth culture. He has developed a distinctive visual language shaped by hardcore punk, skateboarding, and Japan’s Ura-Harajuku movement of the 1990s. Widely recognized for his influential projects Girls Don’t Cry and Wasted Youth, as well as his original characters Vick and Visty, VERDY creates work rooted in personal experiences, relationships, and emotion. What began as intimate expressions, a message of comfort in Girls Don’t Cry and a reflection on his early struggles through Wasted Youth, have evolved into globally recognized cultural symbols that resonate across generations. Through characters like Vick and Visty, VERDY explores the intersection of cuteness and loneliness, humor and vulnerability, reflecting the complexities of modern youth culture. Spanning fashion, art, music, and street culture, VERDY has collaborated with some of the world's most influential brands and creatives, including Nike, HUMAN MADE, Kenzo, Instagram, Levi’s, Louis Vuitton, Dover Street Market, NIGO, and Takashi Murakami. Beyond his graphic practice, VERDY is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Thirty3 Magazine, a publication dedicated to the next generation of creative voices. In 2023, he also launched Henry’s Pizza, a New York-style pizza shop and cultural space in Osaka that hosts exhibitions, events, and collaborations with artists from around the world. Currently serving as a creative partner for HUMAN MADE, VERDY continues to shape contemporary culture through a multidisciplinary practice that bridges art, fashion, design, and community.
