Rupal Banerjee is the founder and designer of Ru by Rupal, a fashion label established in 2019 rooted in self-expression, confidence, and the fusion of South Asian culture with modern contemporary fashion. Inspired by the strength of the women around her, Rupal designs pieces that encourage others to move through the world with intention, ambition, and fearlessness. Born in Kolkata, India and raised in California, she grew up navigating two cultural worlds that later became the foundation of her creative voice. Through Ru by Rupal, she blends traditional cultural references—such as draping, prints, colors, and symbolism—with contemporary silhouettes to create a distinct visual language that reflects her dual identity. Rupal studied at Parsons School of Design in New York, where she built the business and marketing foundation that allowed her to grow the brand as both a creative practice and entrepreneurial venture. Today, Ru by Rupal continues to expand through collections and cultural storytelling that celebrate heritage while speaking to a global audience.
