Bad Gyal

Bad Gyal

Bad Gyal burst onto the scene in 2016 and immediately turned heads for her boundary pushing fusion of Latin and Caribbean dance music, empowering lyricism, and future forward aesthetic and style. Hailing from Barcelona, Spain, her music became synonymous with young fans for its youthfulness and sex appeal. It cemented her status as Urbano royalty, captivating audiences with a groundbreaking approach to music and has since worked with legends such as Karol G, Raul Alejandro, J. Balvin, Anitta, Ozuna and many more. Bad Gyal first rose to cult fame when she self-released a version of Rihanna’s “Work” sung in the Catalan language to YouTube. She put out two different mixtapes (Slow Wine, 2016 and Worldwide Angel, 2018) following this and was promptly discovered and signed to Universal Music Latino and Interscope Records. There she released Warm Up, (2021) an EP that debuted in the Top 10 of Spotify’s Global Albums Chart, featuring names like Rauw Alejandro, Rema, Khea, Juanka and more, accumulating over 150 million streams across platforms. The momentum resulted in Bag Gyal being crowned “Best Spanish Act” at the MTV European Music Awards in 2022 and paved the path to sold out arena shows in Barcelona (Palau Sant Jordi) and Madrid (Wizink Center) in 2023. It was following this that Bad Gyal released one of her biggest crossover hits “Chulo Pt 2.” which features two other young and exciting voices, Tokischa and Young Miko. These concerts and new single marked the beginning of a new era for Bad Gyal where she began to unveil the songs that would become part of her debut album, La Joia. A 15-track project that boasts collaborative names such as Anitta, aforementioned Tokischa and Young Miko, Myke Towers, Ñengo Flow and more. The album fuses Urbano genres with Latin dance music boasting production from El Guincho, Scott Storch, Nely El Arma Secreta and more and soared to the top of Spanish charts and is officially certified RIAA Gold in both Spain and the United States. A force on the live stages, she has sold out tours across multiple continents and graced the covers of Vogue España, Highsnobiety, GQ España (“Woman of The Year”) while also collecting awards such as “Best Urbano Artist” at last year’s LOS40 Music Awards. The former fashion student has also been a force to be reckoned with with her bold style and relationships with some of fashion’s biggest houses including Loewe, Rabanne, Valentino, LUAR to name a few. With all new music and collaborations to come this year, Bad Gyal’s mission of being a voice of a generation rings truer every day.
