People on Twitter aren't happy with Crocs after it offered a lame attempt to honor David Bowie.

The shoe company known for its extremely un-stylish slip-ons, posted a tweet earlier today in memory of the legendary artist that said, "Your magic will be missed, but your inspiration lives on forever." Although it's unclear exactly how the icon—who definitely wasn't one to favor comfort over style—would ever inspire Crocs, that wasn't even the worst part.

Included in the tweet was a photo of one of the brand's white foam clogs along with a red and blue lightning bolt placed over it as a reference to Bowie's "Aladdin Sane" album cover. It looked like it could have been made in Microsoft Paint circa 1998. It was about as lazy an attempt to eulogize an icon as you'll find anywhere. As to be expected, social media users were very vocal about how awful the tweet was.

@Crocs You guys definitely need some designers and social media experts in the house.

After what was probably several rounds of approval and disucssions, Crocs came to that decision.

After about 20 minutes, Crocs deleted the tweet. Unfortunately for them, plenty of people made sure to grab a screenshot.
