It's weird to think about, but Charles Barkley won't be hosting on Inside the NBA forever, and he's said as much in a new interview with The Athletic. The 55-year-old retired basketball player and analyst spoke at length about his career, detailing his formative years as an athlete what lead him to where he is now.

When asked how much longer he wanted to be a broadcaster, he explained, "I'm trying to make it to 60 because I still want to be young enough where I can enjoy my life and have fun." That puts only five more years on his placement on Inside the NBA, meaning his retirement could be coming sooner than initially thought. "That is no disrespect to old people, but I don't think you are going to be having a lot of fun at 70 or 75. From 60 to 70, I just want to enjoy life."

He's considered quitting from the world of broadcasting before, but he stuck around, as the interviewer notes. When asked why he stuck around, he kept his answer pretty simple, saying, "Well, number one, money. I have a great contract. But I am looking at 60 as the end."

It's unclear if he'll stick to his word and leave the moment he turns 60, but regardless, his voice will be missed in the NBA community.
